Step back into a retro heaven oasis of kitsch op shops, retro homes & glorious beaches - bask in the glory that is the Shoalhaven
This retro op shop adventure will blow your socks off. These places are dripping with treasure folks - your going to find gold, gold I tell you ✌️
We based ourselves in the tranquil & retro Jervis Bay for 2 nights, in the worlds most retro beach shack Retro Sands, it was groovy as & so relaxing.
Jervis Bay is the perfect spot to chill while you explore all these areas - everything is pretty much a cruisy 30 min drive or so away.
We rented bikes for 2 days, makes for the perfect way to wobble between Vincentia & Huskisson Bay, everything is so accessible even with a toddler, check this short bike ride we filmed, super cute!
First port of call was Vincentia village right by the beach to stock up on snacks (there is a hidden op shop by Coles in the alley way) ✌️
We grabbed the most amazing hamper from Vincentia Butchery, these guys specialise in pasture raised, ethically farmed, locally sourced produce - catering also for vegetarians, its a fine boutique deli if I do say so myself.
Then straight to our retro home to unpack & relax ready for a full days treasure hunting the following day
Sussex Inlet is going to blow your op shop mind, kid you not.
2 crazy cool op shops, the worlds quirkiest second hand book store, a local craft store, retro bungalows everywhere, a calm inlet & the most kitsch of food joints - Island Sushi.
Sussex Inlet deserves a good half day of your full attention - at least.
Also try and squeeze in Culburra Beach & Callala Bay
*Culburra Beach especially 😉
Culburra Beach has 2 ripper ops!
There is a super sweet Vinnies in Callala Bay.
Funky Huskisson is home to the Buy Back Centre, this spot will always hold a special place in my heart as its where we bought our retro bar stools from. We totally strapped them to the roof racks of our car and drove them home to Melbourne with us.
Shoalhaven Buy Back Centres are unreal and if you can, you simply must visit as many as possible, Id fully bring a trailer next trip!
For adventure, there is absolutely no question at all - you simply must visit Chinamans Beach in Jervis Bay.
Its a beautiful 20min walk through lush rain-forest where you are greeted by the worlds whitest sand & turquoise water like, ever 🌴 We were lucky enough to have this beach all to ourselves on our early spring morning too, what a treat!
Green Patch in Booderee National Park is exceptional!

Jervis Bay Bike Hire
We hired bikes for 2 days while in Jervis Bay, truly is the best way to get around.
The bike path Round The Bay is superb and so easy to cruise along.
