welcome to my blog, I hope you have a lovely time here.

Werribee is a bit of an unknown gem on outskirts of Melbourne. There are 3 Op Shops here and an abundance of outdoor activities from taking in the views of the Werribee River at the K Road Cliffs, to taking a stroll through the boat houses at Campbell’s Cove. Plus there’s the Werribee Mansion for an afternoon picnic and stroll and the Zoo right next door if you fancy.
Op shop wise, the Salvos in town is nice and big with an enormous selection and is especially good for curtains and manchester. Then there’s the Rotary Op Shop, which is a bit of a hidden gem and often has 50% off on Mondays and Tuesdays. And to top it off we, there’s the Uniting Church Op Shop which also has great treasure.
But it’s in outdoor adventure that Werribee truly shines. The newly opened Wyndham Park on the banks of the Werribee River is one of the best parks in Melbourne and there are wonderful spots for picnics under the riverside trees. Get some takeaways from town and take in the views.
Heading south out of town, you’ll find the stunning K Road Cliffs, iconic to Wyndham and truly a sight to behold! They’ve been eroded by the river over millennia and are surrounded by wetlands, so the bird life is pretty spectacular too. There’s a walk you do down along the river, so go at dusk to get the best light for photos. If you’ve got a kayak, you can pop it in my rocks and gentle paddle underneath the red clay of the cliffs and down towards Graham’s Wetland Reserve.
You’re close to the Werribee Mansion at this point, so head on over for a picnic and enjoy the grounds. They’re especially beautiful in late autumn when the leaves are falling from the trees and there’s a hidden picnic spot (shhh, don’t tell anyone, see this link HERE)
A 5 minute drive away, you’ll find Campbell’s Cove, a lovely spot for a picnic any time of the year. The beach is dotted with rustic beach huts and has lovely grassy patches for picnics. If the weather is a bit windy, then I’d recommend the Werribee Mansion, but if it’s a nice day then come on down. The foreshore is great for the kids to explore.
On you out, there’s the Werribee Zoo, which is amazing! You’ll often find at Hippo Beach on hot days enjoying an icy pole while Frankie enjoys running through the water play areas.
